Shanaer, known as the Neverending asserts their dominion by eliciting the ceaseless passage of time, by orchestrating the rhythmic transition between seasons, and by coordinating the dance between day and night. Depicted as a mutable and fluid gray mist cloud, they possess a voice that booms with a deliberate cadence but a variable string of tones, slow and resonant, as well as shrill and blaring— it is said Shanaer steals other creatures voice to compose their own. His essence mirrors that of time itself: ever-shifting and lacking a fixed physical form.
The Neverending occupies cardinal importance in spheres closely linked to agriculture. The reason is apparent: the cyclicality of seasons harmonizes with the forward flow of time, dictating the timely moments for sowing, nurturing, and reaping the land; from there, a symbiotic relationship emerges, for just as time guides the progression of crops, the cultivation of the land is a testament to the immutable passage of time.
Priests in kinship with Shanaer are usually versed in schools of magic that bend and distort the fabric of time; their incantations are done as a fervent plea to share in the wondrous powers of The Neverending. They also adpot a nomadic approach to life, ceaselessly traversing from hamlet to hamlet officiating ceremonies designed to foster bountiful harvests; or rituals with the purpose of hastening the Halting Wintertide; or on rare occasions, to bless the celebration of a name day. On their travels, these rectors are often accompanied by a small retinue of cohorts dedicated to aid their leaders in the creation of “Fugacious Houses”–transient sanctuaries designed to host the aforementioned rituals and ceremonies, these groups sometimes pose as a roving circuses.
The Neverending’s vestige stands as an architectural marvel even within the Irëdeulian pantheon, as it is infamous for its unparalleled challenge. This den of temporal enigma presents an environment where the halls themselves pose the greatest threat— an intricate labyrinth of time-bent corridors and conundrums that dare and defy the most acute wit with its paradoxical embrace.
Ioxa, Shanaer’s Aspect is a halfling family man who lives, anonymously, in a farming town within the Gigan Valley.
